What You'll Learn

The days of standard multiple choice tests are over. In recent years, educators have developed assessment alternatives which have allowed students to deepen their learning. Research has shown that new assessment techniques positively influence student learning, performance-based assessment improves instruction and more equitably assesses minority and underserved students.

In this module, you will learn why students’ brains need differentiated assessments and the three different types of assessment. Our expert, Bruce Campbell, will explain how you can smoothly integrate these new testing techniques into the instructional cycle. This module will help you:

  • Design your own differentiated assessment tasks
  • Assess students before, during and after instruction to monitor comprehension
  • Provide opportunities for more students to demonstrate their skills and knowledge and to be successful learners
