Tuition: $225 complete
What You'll Learn
As a teacher or administrator, chances are you face a recurring challenge – what do you do with struggling students? In the classroom of yesterday, academically-challenged students were simply assigned to special education classrooms. Or, they fell through the cracks of the school system altogether. But with special education budgets increasingly stretched, school officials are looking at Response to Intervention (RTI) as a means of identifying struggling students at an early age.
In this module, you’ll undergo a through introduction to RTI and examine why it’s gaining traction as an effective method for identifying and preventing academic failure. Dr. Dan Reschly, a noted RTI expert, will outline the purpose of RTI and examine the critical features of a successful RTI program. In addition, he will present several case studies illustrating how RTI has been successfully implemented. In this module you’ll discover how to:
Identify struggling learners at an early age
Determine which course of action to take with under-performing students
Assess how Federal and State legislation has impacted RTI programs
Utilize scientifically-based data to drive performance improvement
Apply formative assessment to monitor student performance
Develop benchmarks that accurately gauge student improvement
